Janken To The Rescue!

“Who goes first?”

“Who gets to eat the last cookie?”

“Who gets to sit in the front seat?”

At some point in our lives, as kids (and maybe even as adults), we all try to answer these VERY important questions.

Of course, it is sometimes difficult to solve these crucial life issues without an argument.

Janken to the rescue!

Janken (rock, paper, scissors) turns decision making into a game! Kids (and adults) become so engrossed in the fun of it…before you know it, the problem (if anyone even remembers it) is resolved with a smile.

It is a big part of the Japanese culture…my parents encouraged my sister and I to play it.

So, I decided it would be fun to create an original image by photographing my hand showing the 3 different symbols and adding special effects which correspond to each sign…fist/rock, open hand/paper, and scissors/metal. Then I added the image to products in my online shop: http://www.cafepress.com/mikikuwabaraphotography

My new Janken line of products is a playful way to add fun to your day and my hope is that the image will be a reminder to make decisions in a peaceful way.

I used to love playing Janken when I was young. When I lived in Japan as an adult, it put a smile on my face when I saw Japanese children doing it. Thank you for the good memories Miki-chan !!
